I’m an ideas man (albeit female) and I care about the craft of writing. I’m looking for opportunities to make the most of my background in criminology to create a host of intriguing characters ripe for unravelling. I’m inspired by the writers of TV shows such as Love My Way, Phoenix, Six Feet Under, Gilmore Girls and The West Wing.
PROJECTS IN DEVELOPMENT
Feature Film – Thriller
A weary surveillance officer, conflicted about her responsibilities to her family and her job, battles a terrorist plot at the MCG with her baby in tow.
Feature Film – Family Comedy
A single father at the end of his tether moves into the kid’s cubby house to escape the chaotic mess of his life, leaving his 10 year old in charge of the family routine.
I gave 15 years of myself to the serious business of working as a criminologist for the government and private industry. Despite all the positives (a knack for circumscribed corporate speak, proficiency at red penning, a regular income), this experience failed to satisfy the annoyingly relentless voice in my head nagging me to consider a more creative career path.
As the mother of two young children I’ve recently become (very tired but also) fascinated by psycho-social influences over family dynamics. My writing tends to explore issues such as stress, responsibility, depression, work-life balance, parenthood, self-esteem and the struggle to fit in.
